Queens Park Day

Come and see us at all at Queen's Park Day this Sunday, midday till 5pm in Queen's Park NW6. It's a really fun day out for all the family, with a fun fair, food, fancy dress competition (for children, I hasten to add), a magician AND a dog show, plus over 100 stalls run by local businesses, including most of the Homeworks group. And I know I'm going to jinx it by saying this, but the weather is always kind to us on Queen's Park Day - hope to see you there!

Getting ready for Origin

Smith and Coates is crocheting frantically, trying to build up enough stock for Origin. Apparently they expect 20,000 visitors over the course of two weeks. Yikes! I'll send out reminders nearer the time, but just in case you've got your diaries handy, I'll be there from 6th - 13th October, stand A2, listed as Sarah Coates. Please come and see me!

Make Do And Mend

Lou currently has some of her recycled furniture and ceramics in this inspirational exhibition at the V & A Museum of Childhood in Bethnal Green. Why not take the kids over the summer holidays - there's a wonderful permanent exhibition of toys and childhood memorabilia and Brick Lane is just nearby if you fancy introducing them to a spicy lunch! The Handworks children's collection

The Handworks summer collection of children's clothes has been a great success and it's not too late to get some for the holidays.

One of the most popular items is the wrap dress, especially in the pink spot print (worn by Bea) but also in the blue paisley & lime/fuschia floral (as seen hanging in my apple tree!). It's a great dress which works really well as pretty summer wear but also perfect as a party/wedding frock.

Ishaan is wearing the woven cotton pyjama's in the blue paisley print, a lovely cool alternative to cotton jersey on hot summer nights, which we will be having more of!

Girls love the tiered skirts (seen hanging with the wrap dresses), they are cool but with the right amount of volume to enable some great twirling. The skirts can be bought with 3/4 length sleeve tops in complimentary prints.

Ishaan agreed to model some of the boys clothes whilst watching Thunderbirds. The action was far too gripping for any shots to camera! Clockwise from left: light cotton short sleeve shirt, pyjamas and a quilted cotton dressing gown, perfect for cool summer mornings or evenings.

We are working on setting up an online shop but in the meantime please do have a look at our holding page for more details.

You can buy over the phone or by making a studio appointment. Contact me, Radha by email on radha@anokhi.com.

Lou Gets a Double Whammy

I couldn’t have been more delighted this weekend when I saw that my new Bugs and Roses tableware had been given Star Buy status on the Guardian’s Wishlist page with a fabulously big picture to boot.  But then, thanks to the lovely Emily at Caravan I found that a couple of my customised vintage bug plates had made it into the Independent’s Design Issue too.  Orders have been pinging into my notonthehighstreet.com shop ever since.  Oh happy days!

Smith and Coates will be at Origin in October

Smith and Coates is going to be at Origin this year, and although it's ages away (not until October), I'm starting to limber up already. Judith has been helping me with new postcard and label designs, and I've been frantically sewing in my shed. And I've just put a whole load of new jumpers on the website so it's all systems go.
